Network License Server Installation (Administrators Only)

To implement a Genesys network installation, one computer is chosen to act as the Genesys server. The server manages the number of purchased licenses as they are used among the Genesys clients. Clients are computers where Genesys software is actually run.

In a Genesys network installation, the hardware key and licenses are installed only on  the server.
The Genesys server is most often the server in a LAN, but this is not required. Any computer in the LAN can be used as the Genesys server.
The computer acting as the Genesys server cannot be used to run a client instance of Genesys.
This step can not be done using Remote Desktop or any other type of terminal server.
  1. Before beginning server installation, make sure you have your hardware key plugged in. The installation procedure will install two programs: Floating License Server and Genesys Network Setup Image. (Network Setup Image is only available from CD install, images downloaded from the Knowledge Center will not have this option.) If you have downloaded an image to install, go directly to step #3.
    • Network Image creates an image of the Genesys setup program on your server so that users can install Genesys from the network server. This feature requires 249MB on your hard drive.
    • Floating License Service manages the network seats of Genesys software if you have purchased floating licenses. This feature requires 5448KB on your hard drive.
  2. At the server, insert the disk into CD ROM Drive. The CD should automatically run. If it does not automatically run, click start.exe from the CD.
  3. From the CD, click on the Install Genesys Server button located on the left. Otherwise, start the installer that you downloaded.
  4. Press the Install Genesys Server Now button to continue.
  5. Click Next. Read the license agreement and if you choose, click accept license agreement and click Next.
    • Type user name, Organization, and choose type of access and click Next.
    • Select the setup type and click Next.  When you reach the screen to install, click Install.
  6. The installation will only take a few minutes. After you click Install, a requirements page will pop up. Read the requirements page and press Next. Before continuing, make sure your hardware key is plugged in.
  7. You will come to a page that has two options: internet or no internet connection. If you have an internet connection and your hardware key is properly plugged in, Genesys will automatically obtain codes for you. If you do not have an internet connection then enter the codes that came with your floating license. Contact Agilent if you do not have these codes.
The number of seats that were purchased for the network determines the number of users that can be operating Genesys at one time. For example, if you have five network seats then up to five users can access Genesys at one time.
  8. Now that the server is set-up, you are ready to install Genesys on client computers. Clients can:
    • Install from a Network Image, see [Web Installation]
    • download Genesys from the web, see [Web Installation]
    • install directly from the cd, see [CD Installation]
Client computers will need to enter the name of the Genesys server instead of authorization codes.
